Rooms, doors and windows, the finish on each surface, and what to buy: boxes of tile, gallons of paint, drywall sheets and baseboard. Then one request to Rios for a visit and a written quote.

A warm finished interior

What the takeoff counts

Five finishes, each measured the way it is sold.

  • Large porcelain floor tiles

    Floor

Length × width of each room, in boxes of tile or plank.

  • Glossy wall tiles

    Wall tile

The walls up to the tile line, less the doors and windows below it.

  • A freshly painted wall

    Paint

The walls above the tile line or the whole wall, times the coats, in gallons.

  • A smooth drywall ceiling

    Ceiling

Drywall sheets and ceiling paint over the floor area.

  • Baseboard

The perimeter less the door openings, in pieces.
