Boxes and gallons

Two quick counts: boxes of tile for an area, gallons of paint for a wall. Counted in your browser.

A tidy work table

Boxes of tile

Worked example

19 boxes

24 m² + 10 % = 26,4 m², at 1,44 m² per box.

Gallons of paint

Worked example

4 gallons

45 m² + 5 % × 2 coats = 94,5 m², at 30 m² per gallon.

Starting values and waste

The finishes start with common values: 1,44 m² per box of 60 × 60 cm porcelain, 30 m² per gallon and coat of vinyl paint with two coats, 2,98 m² per drywall sheet of 1,22 × 2,44 m, baseboard in 2,4 m pieces.

Replace them with the label of the product you choose. Add about 10 % waste for straight layouts and about 15 % for diagonal layouts or rooms with many cuts.

Before buying tiles

Buy all the tiles of one finish from the same batch, with the same shade and caliber printed on the box, and keep a few spare pieces for repairs.

Paint from different batches can differ slightly in colour: buy it together, or mix the cans before starting.
